Privacy Policy

Effective 1 March 2026 · Last reviewed 1 March 2026

In short: PL Jobs collects the information you give us (account details, résumé, applications) and standard technical data about your visit. We use it to run the job platform, match you to relevant roles and keep the site secure. We do not sell candidate data. We use cookies for essential functions, analytics and advertising, and you can control advertising cookies at any time. You can access, correct, export or delete your data by emailing privacy@pljobs.com.

This Privacy Policy explains how PL Jobs ("PL Jobs", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit our website, create an account, apply to a job, subscribe to job alerts or read our career guides. It applies to all visitors worldwide. We aim to comply with the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA), Canada's PIPEDA and other applicable data protection laws.

1. Who we are and how to reach us

PL Jobs operates this website and is the data controller for the personal data described below. For any privacy question, request or complaint, contact our privacy team at privacy@pljobs.com. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also contact our data protection representative at the same address, and you have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), country and language preference.
  • Profile and application data: résumé/CV, work history, education, skills, salary expectations, work authorisation and relocation preferences, cover letters and answers to employer screening questions.
  • Employer data: company name, billing contact, job listing content and payment details processed by our payment provider (we do not store full card numbers).
  • Communications: messages you send through our contact form, support email or newsletter preferences.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time on page and timestamps.
  • Approximate location: derived from your IP address at country/city level, used to show locally relevant jobs and currency.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in section 6.

2.3 Information from third parties

If you sign in with Google, LinkedIn or Apple, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that provider. We may also receive company information from public business registries when verifying an employer.

We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

3. How and why we use your data

  • To provide the service: create and secure your account, display listings, submit your applications to employers you choose, and save jobs.
  • To personalise results: recommend roles based on your searches, saved jobs, location and stated preferences.
  • To communicate: send job alerts, application updates, service notices and (if you opt in) our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time.
  • To improve the platform: aggregated analytics on how pages and search filters are used.
  • To keep the platform safe: detect fraudulent listings, spam, scraping and account abuse.
  • To show advertising: including personalised advertising where you have consented, or where permitted by law.
  • To meet legal obligations: tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests.

Legal bases (GDPR): performance of a contract (running your account and applications), legitimate interests (security, service improvement, non-personalised advertising), consent (marketing emails, personalised advertising cookies) and legal obligation (record-keeping). Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

4. How we share your data

  • Employers: when you apply to a role, your application and profile are shared with that employer, who becomes an independent controller of that data under their own policy.
  • Service providers: hosting, email delivery, analytics, customer support and payment processing, under contracts limiting them to our instructions.
  • Advertising partners: as described in section 5.
  • Legal and safety: where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of PL Jobs, our users or the public.
  • Corporate transactions: in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, with notice to you.

We do not sell candidate résumés or profile data.

5. Third-party advertising disclosure

Some pages of this site display advertising served by third-party advertising networks and their partners. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, device identifiers and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to serve advertisements about goods and services likely to be of interest to you, to limit how often you see the same advertisement, and to measure advertising effectiveness.

This information may include your IP address, browser and device characteristics, pages viewed and general location. It is collected by those advertising partners under their own privacy policies, and PL Jobs does not control their practices. Advertising partners never receive your résumé, application content or account credentials.

How to opt out of personalised advertising

  • EU/UK/Swiss visitors: use the consent banner shown on your first visit, or the "Cookie settings" link in our footer, to change your choices at any time.
  • US visitors: use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" / "Cookie settings" link in our footer, or a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honour.
  • Industry tools: the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out (optout.networkadvertising.org), the DAA's YourAdChoices (optout.aboutads.info) and Your Online Choices (youronlinechoices.eu).
  • Google's ad settings (adssettings.google.com) control personalisation for Google's advertising products.

Opting out stops personalised advertising, not advertising altogether — you will still see ads, they will simply be less relevant.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

  • Strictly necessary: sign-in sessions, security, load balancing, remembering your consent choices. These cannot be switched off.
  • Preferences: language, country and currency selection.
  • Analytics: aggregated measurement of page performance and search usage.
  • Advertising: used by our advertising partners for frequency capping, measurement and (with consent) personalisation.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and application features.

7. International transfers

We operate globally, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where data leaves the EEA or UK, we rely on adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses together with additional technical safeguards such as encryption in transit.

8. How long we keep data

  • Account and profile: while your account is active, then 24 months after your last sign-in, unless you delete it sooner.
  • Applications: 24 months, so you retain a record of where you applied. Employers retain their own copies under their policies.
  • Support messages: 24 months.
  • Server and security logs: up to 12 months.
  • Billing records: as long as tax law requires, typically 7 years.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct inaccuracies, delete it, export a portable copy, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, email privacy@pljobs.com from your account address. We respond within 30 days (45 days for CCPA requests where an extension is permitted) and may need to verify your identity first. You may use an authorised agent where the law allows.

10. Security

We use TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest for stored files, hashed passwords, least-privilege internal access, logging and regular third-party security reviews. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the relevant regulators as required by law.

11. Automated decision-making

Job recommendations are generated algorithmically from your searches, saved jobs and stated preferences. No hiring decision is made by PL Jobs — employers make their own decisions. You can ignore recommendations and search manually at any time.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services or the law change. Material changes will be announced on this page and, where required, by email. The "last reviewed" date above always reflects the current version.

13. Contact
